BMW Motorcycle Owners of America, European Corner, September 1975
Written by Pat Thomas #1791
This is most likely my last article for the European Corner. Other commitments and an ever demanding job have made it difficult for me to continue. I’ve enjoyed writing for the European Corner since its inception in January 1974 and hope you have enjoyed reading it. And I’m sure you will continue to enjoy it through the humorous, if not witty, writings of Paul Lewis who gave you two inspiring three-wheeled spiels in the June and July issues of the News. Since Paul is so much into hacking now, I suggested to him that it might not be a bad idea to mount his typewriter in the hack so that his wife Marion could type while he dictated to her from behind the handlebars – which brings up a question that has been bothering me for quite some time – does one ride or drive a hack?
Although I’m not parting the scene – I’ll still update the European Listing and answer correspondence – I’d like to thank Frank Diederich for all the assistance he gave me in starting the European Corner, and to both Carol Plant and Jean Rihl who have been instrumental on keeping me well informed on the names and addresses of new European members that make up the European Listing. My thanks also to Karen A’Llerio whose ideas on improvements to the European Corner have helped to enrich it. I wish also to express my gratitude to all of you who have corresponded with me and I hope to meet you all at the National next year.
